Introducing the Technical Forum in its first meeting.
The Technical Forum is a new, weekly program of the Minneapolis Job Support Workshop for Managers, Professionals & Others. The Technical Forum is exclusively for job seekers in the engineering, manufacturing, software, hardware, and scientific fields.
The meetings will be different from anything that is being done now to our knowledge for job seekers.
First there will be a “check-in” about what each participant has been doing if anything in her/his job search since the last meeting.
Second there can be a discussion about any issues in job search that people wish to discuss.
Then, in the third part of the meeting participants will present to the group actual activities/accomplish-ments from a past job using the white board or a computer projector much as one might do in an interview. Thus participants will be keeping up their technical skills and seeing and hearing how other people present technical information. As the group evolves it will decide issues about how it can best operate and may refine the process.
It should be an enlightening compliment to whatever else a job seeker is doing in her/his search.
The program will surely evolve. It is planned for every Friday in Room 116 at Christ Presbyterian Church (70th Street and Highway 100) Edina,
The meeting initially will be Fridays 10:00 A.M. to about noon. With the first meeting on Feb. 12.
Like other programs of the Minneapolis Job Support Workshop, the program will have refreshments and be free although a donation is appreciated ($3 is suggested).
If there are any questions, please call Stan Brown at 952-943-0718, who will be one of the hosts of the meeting.
